I live in Orange County and would like to become a certified skydiver. Since Perris Valley and Lake Elsinore are really close to eachother, how do I choose where to go? Perris has a wind tunnel thing but Elsinore looks more laid back. I don’t know. Can anyone who is unbiased (not an employee of either drop zone especially) give me their opinion and WHY that is their opinion? Thanks a lot.

I’m a skydiver. I live in Colorado and I have had the chance to jump at Lake Elsinore, but I’ve not had the chance to jump at Perrris. I loved Skydiving Elsinore. Very laid back, well run and safety first! I I felt more at home at Elsinore in 15 minutes then I have at my home dropzone in two years. So I would say Elsinore.
I’ve heard the Perris, as wonderful as it is, is more of a commercial dropzone and skydivers have a more of a community felling in Elsinore.
You can always do your AFF at Elsinore and wind tunnel traning at Perris. I just made a dozen jumps or so at skydive San Diego and they advertise the Perris Tunnel too. The tunnels are a great place to learn how to fly.
If nothing else, I would say take a weekend and just hang out one day at Perris and one day at Elsinore and see what you think. Then start your training. You could even do it at both, but I would strongly recommend that you stay at one dz until you earn your A license.
Based on what I know from jumping at Elsinore I would go back there without even thinking about going to Perris. I will have to make a choice and force myself to Perris. I loved Elsinore so much!
Enjoy your jumps! Keep jumping! See you at a boogie!
